Golf, Golfer, Tee, Golf Clubs, SportThere are over 80 golf courses around Charlotte. As a result, it can be tough to drill down which ones are the best. The golf courses you see on this list aren’t necessarily the best of the best as, depending on your golfing skills and personal preferences, you might prefer other ones. However, the courses you see here can serve as a starting point.

Ballantyne

If you are looking for a course which oozes a challenge, you will not go wrong with Ballantyne. The well-tended fairways are surrounded by trees, ponds, and other hazards that you will need to work hard to avoid. Hit the 8th hole and the challenge levels will shoot up — this is probably one of the steepest holes in the area. On site, you will also find a 199-room hotel, a golf school, and a full-service spa.

Larkhaven Golf Club

You will find the Larkhaven Golf Club to the east of Charlotte. It’s the oldest golf course in the city and one of the things that many golfers love about Larkhaven is the fact that it’s not a very challenging course. The fairways are narrow and have a few water hazards peppered throughout the course, but nothing that’s going to have you pulling your hair out wondering how you are going to make the next shot.

For this reason, it’s a great place for the newest golfers out there to get started. It’s also worth noting that the green fees for the public are cheaper than most places in the area.

Rocky River Golf Club

With rolling hills all around it, the setting of the Rocky River Golf Club is stunning. For us, the real highlight of the Rocky River Golf Club is the back nine set of holes. They are some of the most challenging in the Charlotte area. Set in wetland, there are rocks, water, and all sorts of bunkers that would love to get their hands on your balls.

Even if you are an experienced player, we suggest that you take caution playing at the Rocky River Golf Club. While you can probably manage getting through the course, it would be great to have a local walk you through it.

Renaissance Park Golf Course

If you look at this course, you will be amazed by its beauty. However, once you look into the history of Renaissance Park, you’ll wonder how they managed to get it to look like this in the first place since the course is built on an old landfill. This course mostly appeals to families and new golfers, particularly if you stick to the front nine holes. One of the things that we love about Renaissance Park is that there is also a three-hole par-3 course built onto the site, which is great for the less-experienced golfers to test their chops.

Charlotte, North Carolina is a great place for golfers. With such a vast choice of courses, your summer definitely won’t be boring!
