Whether you want to donate your time, money, or belongings, there are plenty of worthy causes in Charlotte to consider. We’ve listed our top six ways to give back to the Charlotte community to help you get an idea on how you’d like to get involved.

TreesCharlotte

This nonprofit works to preserve and expand the tree canopy in Charlotte. While Charlotte is a bustling city, this organization works to create and nuture the existing nature within the city limits. This is a great, eco-friendly cause to donate to or consider volunteering at one of its many events. You can also help TreesCharlotte by volunteering and planting trees within the city limits, which is not only a great way to give back, but also to get some exercise!

Habitat for Humanity Charlotte

Habitat for Humanity is a national organization that brings together volunteers and experienced construction workers to create homes for the needy within the base communities. All volunteers are welcome, whether you can help paint the interior or you are comfortable dealing with more heavy-duty contributions, like putting up drywall or helping to install various household appliances. Monetary donations, as well as gently used home furnishings, are always welcome.

Mayor’s Mentoring Alliance

Connecting various mentorship associations, Charlotte’s Mayor’s Mentoring Alliance provides mentors for children in need, helping them achieve academic and life success. The application process to becoming a mentor can be found on its website, and monetary donations are appreciated.

Hands On Charlotte

This organization works to provide a structure for volunteers to be placed with organizations in need, whether it be for an event or for regular functions. Hands On Charlotte has merged with United Way of Central Carolinas to create a powerful force for good in the Charlotte community. This is a great way to get involved in the community and participate in many different outreach programs.

Hospice & Pallative Care

Another nationwide initiative, volunteering with Hospice is a worthwhile cause that brings comfort and caring to members of your community who need it most. While volunteers are always needed in a variety of positions, from administrative to palliative, monetary donations are welcome. If you have a medical background, you can also volunteer your services, which will help those in dire need in your community.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Charlotte

Big Brothers Big Sisters provides kids who need steady adult support with a mentor and friend to help them achieve stability and success in their life. Operated across the country, this nonprofit organization is regularly recognized for the positive impact it has on the success of the communities in which it operates. Consider volunteering to help a kid in need, or donate items or money to help the program continue to improve and support kids and teens in your area.
