Driving during the summer months gives you several extra hours of daylight. But as the summer is starting to wind down, you may have to do more driving after dark. It can take some time to get used to driving your Charlotte new or used Honda after the sunsets.

Here are some nighttime driving tips:

Drive the Speed Limit

It is important to always obey posted speed limits but even more important at night. Night time driving reduces are ability to see everything going on around us and it is important that you are driving at the right speeds so you can make a safe stop if something enters the roadway like a pedestrian, a deer, or another driver.

Know Light Safety

It can be frustrating to be blinded by the glare of another driver’s high beam lights. You can look to the right side of the road to follow the white lines and avoid the glare if it happens to you. It should also serve as a reminder to switch to normal beams when traveling behind another vehicle or when one is approaching from the other direction.

Stick With Good Maintenance Schedule

To reduce the risk of a nighttime breakdown on the side of the road, make sure your vehicle is properly maintained at all times. Schedule regular service appointments at our Charlotte Honda service center to make sure your vehicle and its engine is always in good, functional shape.

Stay Awake

Drowsy driving is just as dangerous as driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Make sure before you get behind the wheel that you are alert enough to drive. If you feel yourself growing too tired to be safe behind the wheel, pull over and find a place to get some rest in a safe location.
