Concert, Performance, Audience, Lightshow, Music, PartyNothing says summer like a great concert. You can unwind, listen to your favorite music, and hang out with friends. If you live in the Charlotte area or are planning to visit, there are tons of concerts from different genres that you can’t afford to miss. Here are just a few of the biggest musical events of the summer sure to suit your taste.

The Cure – June 23rd

Whether you’re a youngster just getting into The Cure or you’re reliving your fond high school memories through the music, this English rock band delivers one of the best live shows you’ll ever see. The lyrics aren’t always uplifting, but you’re sure to find solace in Robert Smith’s heavily accented yet soothing voice. On June 23rd at the PNC Music Pavilion, hear the band play hits like “Just Like Heaven”, “Friday I’m In Love”, and many others. Tickets in the lawn are only $18.75.

Kool & the Gang – July 22nd

Don’t let age fool you. Kool & the Gang still has enough funk to bring down the house. Since the 1960s, this New Jersey-based soul and R&B band has delivered hits you know and love. An added bonus is that this concert also has special guests Big Daddy Kane and legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bootsy Collins. Some may say funk is a dying art, but it won’t feel that way on July 22nd at the PNC Music Pavilion. Hop in the door for just $29. Just make sure you’re ready to shake what your mama gave you.

Tedeschi Trucks Band – July 24th

All you really need to know about the Tedeschi Trucks Band is that it’s one of the best blues bands in the country. Fronted by the husband-wife duo of Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, the band combines some the classic sounds of the blues infused with the sultry voice of Tedeschi and the face-melting slide guitar of Trucks. If you’re a fan of the genre, love soulful solos, or just want to see what this band’s all about, check them out at the Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheater. Tickets start at $57.

Darius Rucker – August 27th

Whether you love him from his days as the frontman of Hootie and the Blowfish, or you’re more in tune with his newer country stylings, Darius Rucker has a silky smooth voice with musicianship and showmanship to boot. As the first African-American to win “Best New Artist” from the Country Music Association, Rucker’s a sight to behold. Hear him this summer at the PNC Music Pavilion for only $29.

Whether you love rock, funk, country, or blues, Charlotte’s summer music scene has a little something for everyone. Not only are these concerts a great way to spend an evening, but you also feel like you’re part of something only a few people ever get to experience. So buy that ticket as soon as possible and gain access to some great summer entertainment.
