It offers a flexible interior made with high-quality materials and all-wheel drive for those who want to take it on weekend adventures. Honda just introduced the HR-V last year, so the 2017 model remains the same as the previous year. Here is an in-depth guide to the 2017 HR-V.

Exterior Features

From the front, the HR-V has the same look as the larger CR-V, but the roof has a higher arch to give the smaller vehicle some extra room inside. It comes in three different trim levels with many standard features. Choose the base-level LX for 17-inch wheels and a rearview camera, or upgrade to the EX for a sunroof, automatic headlights, and rear privacy glass. The EX-L Navi adds roof rails and an automatic dimming rearview mirror.

The Engine and Performance

All HR-Vs come with a 1.8-liter four cylinder engine that produces 141 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. The LX and EX both come standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but you can opt for a CVT, which comes standard on the EX-L Navi. You can choose either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive on any of the models, and CVT is the only available transmission on the four-wheel drive. You’ll see some of the best fuel economy in its class in the HR-V.

Interior

Inside the HR-V, you’ll find quality materials with leather upholstery in the high-end model. The high roofline provides plenty of space for passengers both in the front and in the rear seats, and one of the best features inside this compact vehicle is the magic seat. This rear seat folds down and flips to reveal a large cargo space in the second row. This area accommodates tall items and increases the 24.3 cubic feet of storage space to more than 58 cubic feet.

Technology

The LX comes with a 5-inch touch-screen audio system with a USB port and Bluetooth. This base model also has a backup camera and cruise control. If you upgrade to the EX, you’ll get a 7-inch touch screen and an extra USB port along with automatic climate control. The EX-L Navi adds satellite radio along with the navigation system.

Safety

All models come with a rearview camera, and the EX and EX-L have a wide image camera along with the LaneWatch system. This system adds a camera on the right side of the vehicle that displays a view down the length of the car at street level. When you activate the turn signal, it gives you a better look at your blind spot.

The 2017 Honda HR-V offers drivers a compact vehicle that is fun to drive but doesn’t take up much space. The option for all-wheel drive makes it a good choice for those who live in wintery areas, and the six-speed manual transmission option in the front-wheel-drive version is quick and responsive.
