Honda, Logo, CarIn 2016, Honda made some major updates to its popular midsize sedan, the Accord. The 2017 model is similar in its design, but has a number of tech features and other new upgrades that make it even more appealing.

1. Impressive Power

The EX-L model is available with two engine options. The base engine is a four-cylinder 2.4-liter that puts out 181 pound-feet of torque and 185 horsepower. When you opt for the highest trim level, the engine pairs with a continuously variable transmission, taking the place of a conventional automatic transmission. You can also upgrade to a bigger engine, a V6 3.5-liter model that produces an impressive 252 pound-feet of torque and 278 horsepower. The V6 pairs with a conventional six-speed automatic transmission, which is the only option. Even the base engine produces good numbers for the midsize sedan class, but the V6 takes the Accord EX-L to the top of the pack.

2. Spacious Interior

The 2017 Accord EX-L also has a roomy cabin with plenty of space for five adults. If you plan to travel with kids, it’s easy to install their car seats with room to spare. Within the comfortable cabin, you’ll find leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a four-way power passenger seat, an eight-way power driver’s seat with two lumbar settings and memory functions, keyless and remote ignition, heated front seats, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

3. Tech Features

The top trim level of the Accord also includes plenty of upgraded features that appeal to tech-savvy drivers. Bluetooth connectivity makes it easy to connect your smartphone and make calls or play your favorite tunes. The premium seven-speaker audio system also offers great sound throughout the car. A USB port and auxiliary jack are standard features. Integrate your apps with HondaLink, which works with either Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, depending on what type of device you want to connect. With these extra features, you can listen to streaming music via radio apps and use the navigation.

4. Safe to Drive

The safety features on the 2017 Honda Accord EX-L are also impressive, which makes this midsize sedan even more appealing to drivers. All models include anti-lock disc brakes, active front head restraints, front seat side and side curtain air bags, traction and stability control, and a rearview camera. The EX-L adds LaneWatch blind spot monitoring, a unique system that changes the 7.7-inch central display to a view of the passenger side via a camera when you switch on the turn signal.

You can also upgrade your Accord by adding the Honda Sensing package, which tacks on high-end safety features like lane and road departure warning and intervention, as well as forward collision warning and intervention with automatic braking.

If you’re looking for a comfortable and reasonably priced car for your family or a new commuter car that gets great fuel economy, take the 2017 Honda Accord EX-L for a test drive. You may be surprised to see that this vehicle has everything you need, along with some features you didn’t even know you wanted.
